ALWAYS STUDY
In Matt. 13:1-23, Jesus gives us the parable of the sower and the seed. He tells us that some of the soil is good, and some is not, but the seed springs up in all kinds of soil.
However, it receives the nourishment it needs to grow only in the good soil, which has depth and is fertile. To grow as christians we must continue in the Word of God, which is food for the soul. For "...man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God" (Matt. 4:4). Don't let the devil deceive you, for he stands ready to snatch away that Word which brought you such joy when you first believed and obeyed it. Concerning this the writer of Hebrews warns us in Heb. 6:1-8. We must go beyond these first principles of the gospel in our learning and draw near to God always. He will help us to grow into a full-grown man in Christ (Heb. 5:11-14; I Pet. 2:1-10). Paul wrote the young preacher Timothy, "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth" (2 Tim. 2:15). We must come to know the scriptures, which are able to make us "wise unto salvation through faith that is in Christ Jesus", "that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works (2 Tim. 3:17). In a paraphrase from Winston Churchill, "Never, never, never give up"...on reading and studying your Bible. Always attend every possible service of the church, and make friends of God's children who will help you to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Pet. 3:14-18)
