THE FIELDS ARE WHITE
In John 4:35, Jesus said unto his disciples, “Say not ye, ‘There are yet four months and then cometh the harvest?’ behold, I say unto you, ‘Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields, that they are already white unto harvest.”
Where
Jesus and his diciples were, in Samaria, much seed of
the gospel already had been sown in their hearts. They
believed in God and many other things that were right,
and they were ready for the truth to be fully revealed to
them of the son of God and were ready to receive it, as is
stated in John 4:39-41. We today stand in the same position.
We have the truth of God and a world about us
that is not fully instructed, ready to hear and obey. We
must go out and find them and reap this harvest! It may
mean going from door to door with gospel tracts in our
hands, or the word of truth in our hearts which we can
share with them.
Of those today, who have heard and believed error like
the Samaritans did, many will turn to the truth when they
hear it. This is what Jesus told his disciples then, and
what He tells us today. Although we want to spread the
gospel into all the nations and islands of the world, we
are standing in a great mission field that is white unto
harvest here in America. We must be like the apostle
Paul who stated, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of
Christ; for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone
that believeth; to the Jew first and also to the Greek”
(Rom. 1:16). Recall the woman at the well in John 4, who
came to Jesus, talked with Him, then went and told all
that she could find, to come and hear this man who had
told her all that she ever did. She knew she had found
the Messiah, and wanted to share Him. We cannot compromise
with error nor accept it (1Cor. 1:10). Please read
also Eph. 4:1-16 concerning this. The field is white unto
harvest about us here at Parkway, and wherever you are.
Let us go out and reap; the harvest time is here!
Love you, David Fultz
