FAITH AND WORKS | Print |
Many people believe that believing in Christ will save them, but James said in James 2:24,

“Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.” Many who believe in Christ have not been baptized for the remission of their sins, yet Jesus said, “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned” (Mark 16:16). Many who believe in Christ forsake the assembly of the church, yet the scripture says, “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching” (Heb. 10:25). Some never give liberally to the feeding and clothing of the poor and other works of the Lord, but the scripture tells us, “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world” James 1:27). Some have never learned to love God as He has loved us. “If a man say ‘I love God’ and hateth his brother, he is a liar; for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?” (1 John 4:20) “Ye see then how that by works a man is justified and not by faith only” (James 2:24). Jesus said, “I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day; the night cometh when no man can work” (John 9:4). His whole life was filled with ‘going about doing good’ (Acts 10:38), and He left us an example that we should follow in His steps (1Pet. 2:21).
Let us continue to do good works for Him, and for our salvation.

Love you, David V. Fultz
