Most denominations require some form of what they call baptism for
membership. But is it scriptural or for the right purpose?
God never required any person to join any denomination.
God does require a person to be baptized (immersed) for the remission of his or her sins to be saved,
when that one believes in Christ as the Son of God (Mark 6:15, 16),
repents of those sins (Acts 2:38), and confessesith the mouth his
belief that Jesus is God’s Son (Rom. 10:9-10). One is then added to the
Lord’s church (Acts 2:41-47).
Also the apostle Peter tells us in 1Peter 3:18-22, “...Which
sometime were disobedient, when the long-suffering of God waited in the
days of Noah, while the ark was apreparing, wherein few, that is, eight
souls were saved
by water. The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (v. 20-21).” Please read the whole
scripture, and ask the denominational preacher who baptized you, for
what purpose you were baptized, and what confession you made before you
were baptized. If you confessed “that you believe that God for Christ’s
sake HAS PARDONED your sins”, it could be that you were not baptized
for the right purpose, as commanded by God.
After baptism, we must continue to realize that God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in
spirit and in truth” (John 4:24), and live in accordance with the teaching of His word (2 Tim. 3:16-17).
