A LIVING SACRIFICE
When we become Christians we are no longer our own,
but were bought with a price (1 Cor. 6:20), and that price
was the greatest that God could give, namely the blood
of His own Son, Jesus Christ, Who was crucified upon
the cruel cross. God wants us and loves us (John 3:16),
and through His coming to dwell within us, since He is the
light, we become the light of the world to glorify Him (Matt.
5:14-16).
The apostle Paul tells us “...present your bodies
a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God which is
your spiritual service. And be not fashioned according to
this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your
mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable
will of God” (Rom. 12:1-2).
The apostle Peter also declares, “But ye are an elect race,
a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own
possession, that ye may show forth the excellencies of
Him that called you out of darkness into His marvelous
light: who in time past were no people; but now are the
people of God, who had not obtained mercy, but have
now obtained mercy” (I Pet. 2:9-10).
What a great wonder that God not only wants us to represent
Him to the world by the word that we preach, but by
the lives that we live. As we live for Him, and want to live
with Him in the after awhile, we must be careful that our
lives here on earth and the Word that we teach must be
pure, clean and holy (Matt. 7:21-23; 2 Tim. 4:1-8).
