THE LORD’S DAY
Early one Sunday morning I awoke from a peaceful night
of rest and thought of what the apostle John said in Rev.
1:10, “I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day...” and he went on
to say what was revealed to him in the wonderful book of
Revelation. While we receive no direct revelation from God
today, there is no question but that we should be, like John,
in the spirit on the Lord’s day.
This is a day given by God to
us each week, when we can assemble with the saints before
the throne of God in much the same manner that we will
gather before His throne in eternity to worship Him forever.
We must spend time in meditation and prayer, that we
may be ready to worship Him Who created us in His own
image and likeness, a God of love Who has so many wonderful
plans for us through all ternity. He has a plan for each
one of us and wants us to yield ourselves as servants to
obey Him, so He can shower His blessings on us. Don’t be
concerned, a God Who is powerful enough to create the
universe and hold it in place with all its intricacies, is powerful
enough to take care of us. He knows what is best to
provide for our happiness, and He knows that a day of worship
like what we will be doing forever is good for us now. He
sent His Son to live and die for us that we might know (1
Peter 2:21-25). What a wonderful inspiring day we have together
with Him each Lord’s day! What a joy it will be to be
with Him forever in the home He has prepared for us! Only
those who prepare themselves through love and obedience
to His will can know this joy (Titus 2:1-4). The closer we get
to God the more wonderful He seems to us. He has so
much more to offer us, now and in the hereafter, than Satan
does, who tempts us to turn away from Him. Worship God
with us this Lord’s day. Obey the Lord so that you can say
with John, “He which testifieth these things saith, ‘Surely I
come quickly, Amen. Even so, come Lord Jesus! The grace
of the Lord Jesus be with you all. Amen.’” (Rev. 22:20-21)
Love you, David V. Fultz
