WILL A MAN ROB GOD?
It is characteristic of people that in times of prosperity such as we
are now enjoying, we forget God. We often place our faith and trust
in material things, a fine home, an automobile, a bank account, an
insurance policy, or some other such materialistic thing, and leave
God completely out.
It is sad when Christians will pay more for life
insurance than they do for soul insurance. How many times have
we prayed to God for a bountiful harvest or prosperity, and then
when such a time came, like the Israelites, left God out of our plans.
Let us read Malachi 3:8-10: “Will a man rob God? Yet ye rob me.
But ye say, wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
Ye are cursed with the curse; for ye rob me, even this whole nation.
Bring ye the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food
in my house, and prove me now herewith, saith Jehovah of hosts, if
I will not open the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing,
that there will not be room enough to receive it.” In this God is
pleading with them to include Him in their plans, just as He is urging
us today, to do the same.
There are so many opportunities given to us to do good. It is said
of Jesus that He went about doing good (Acts 10:38). God will be
with us, as He was with Him. And as the apostle Paul said in 2 Cor.
9:6, “He that soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly, and he that
soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.”
