AN OPEN BIBLE
A Bible sitting in a house gathering dust is of no value to
anyone. It is like a table full of good food uneaten. God
has given us food for the soul that needs to be partaken
of every day.
In Acts 17:11, He tells us that the brethren
at Berea “...were more noble than those at Thessalonica,
in that they received the Word with all readiness of mind,
and searched the scriptures daily, whether these things
were so. Therefore many of them believed; also of
honourable women which were Greeks, and of men not
a few.” What a wonderful privilege God has given us, to
read and study His word which is able to save our souls!
We learn from God’s word that He knows all about each
one of us, and Jesus says He knows about all creatures
that He has created, even to the sparrows that seemingly
are so worthless, and to man of whom He says,
“But the very hairs of your head are numbered.” (Matt.
10:30) We place such a value upon the things of this
world, but Jesus tells us, “What shall a man be profited if
he should gain the whole world and lose his own soul, or
what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matt.
16:26) It was not easy for Jesus to go to Calvary’s cross
and endure the rejection and the pain and suffering of
the cross, but He knew there was no other way for us to
be forgiven of our sins. But all of that suffering, rejection,
and pain is to no avail, unless we accept His plan for our
salvation. We must know and follow the word to God to
be saved. Almost the last words of inspiration given tells
us not to add to, nor take away from the words of this
book. (Rev. 22:17-19). We pray that we will all know and
do what the word of God tells us.
Love you, David V. Fultz
