THERE IS WORK FOR EVERYONE
In the family of God, there is a place and work for everyone,
much like it was when we grew up on a farm. I do not recall
a time when there was not work for each member of the
family to do. Dad and we boys did the outside chores, harness
the horses, milk the cows, etc. Mother and the girls
prepared meals, did the dishes, kept the house, etc. Sometimes
we worked together, but there was always something
for each of us to do. We were one body working together. In
the church it is the same.
The Apostle Paul tells us in Rom. 12:4-5, “For as we have
many members in one body and all members have not the
same office; so we being many, are one body in Christ, and
everyone members one of another.” He goes on to explain
that each one is to use the gifts that are given unto him to the
glory of God, and above all, to work together. “If it be possible,
as much as lieth within you, live peaceably with all men”
(Rom. 12:18).
As Jesus teaches us, we are to each use the talents that are
given to us, whether they are few or many (Matt. 25:14-27).
Notice that the one who had only one talent was condemned
for not using it. There is a place for everyone to work in the
Church.
Love you, David V. Fultz
