Rise and Shine
Happy New Year! Our first bulletin for 2008 has a couple of
good news items! One is that Brenda White decided to place
her membership with us as we ended 2007. She has recently
moved to Lubbock from the Metroplex where she attended
the Saturn Road church of Christ. Please make her feel welcome!
Secondly, Jordan is being released from the hospital
as I finish writing this on January 2. Of course, he will still be
going through another 4 to 6 weeks of recovery and we would
appreciate your continued prayers.
Considering how cold it was, the New Year’s Eve fellowship
had good attendance from both Northside and Parkway
members. I feel very honored and excited that many of them
have felt comfortable enough to consider worshipping and
working with us. Things are looking up at Parkway! May we
continue to work toward a vision of glorifying God!
I want to thank our two guest speakers last Lord’s Day: David
Barnett and Monty Huffman. David’s sermon passage from
2 Peter 1 is one of my favorites and his thoughts on examining
the Christian graces on a continuum were very insightful.
Contrasts like this help us both see where we are in our Christian
walk and then make the necessary adjustments. Likewise,
Monty’s comparison of the temple to the church and
our need to build the best for the Lord were particularly appropriate
for us. Undoubtedly, Parkway is in a rebuilding mode
and we need to give our best as we build the “temple of God!”
