Rise and Shine
Even with the severe drop in temperature, I think we had a
great Saturday and Sunday last week. Saturday, there were
twenty of us that were able to go and sing both songs of
praise and Christmas songs in Pat Austin’s room at the Lakeside
Rehabilitation Center.
We attracted a lot of attention,
including Pat’s returning roommate, whom we brought to
tears. Songs can do that. Pat responded as best she could
and I know all of us really got a lot out of it like she did.
Thanks to all who were able to participate. Then on Sunday,
we had a couple of opportunities to get together with our
brothers from Northside. Two of our elders and several others
were able to attend their noon fellowship and then about
sixty people from both congregations attended our get together
at the Roll Arena. Both opportunities greatly enhanced
our appreciation for one another. Both these fellowships reminded
me that one of the things that I love about Parkway
is the fact that it is an incredibly giving fellowship. I am reminded
of 2 Corinthians 8:3, “For they gave according to
their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of
their own free will.” Parkway has a reputation of going above
and beyond and I know with God’s help that we will continue
that tradition in the coming year. 2008 promises to be one of
our best years ever! May God continue to help us bring glory
to Him!
This coming Lord’s Day morning we will consider “The Faithfulness
that Saves.” Sunday night we will continue our short
series on “JESUS: The Reason for All Seasons.” See you
Sunday!
