Rise and Shine

The elder’s announcement last Sunday was both a sad and a glad surprise. Christians are always saddened to hear of the closure of a sister congregation, especially one that has served the Lord for as long as the Northside church of Christ has.

But, we were heartened to hear that their service to the Lord will not end when they hold their last worship service together on December 30. We were even more encouraged to hear that many will be seriously thinking about coming to join in the Lord’s work at Parkway. Their faith and experiences will certainly be a welcome input here and we look forward to advancing the cause of Christ together. I’m sure you were as encouraged about this as I was to hear that many of their recent visits with us resulted in a positive view of our congregational hospitality and focus. May God grant us His grace to continue to show the brotherly love we have, so that those who decide to place their membership with us will continue to feel comfortable with that important decision. Speaking of placing membership, we have had the privilege of having a few who have chosen to do so recently including Terry Upshaw, Dick and Jo Norman, and Don Koontz. Please do your best to get to know these new members if you haven’t already and continue to make them feel welcome. I thank God for the growth that He has given us. May we all work together for the building up of the body at this place with the wisdom and strength that comes from our Lord. This coming Lord’s Day morning we will consider “The Confession that Saves.” See you Sunday!
