RUNNING THE RACE TO WIN THE CROWN
All of us are running in the race of life, of which the apostle
Paul speaks in 1 Cor. 9:24-27, where he states, “Know ye
not that they which run in a race, run all, but one receiveth
the prize? So run that ye may obtain.”
Some are seeking, as the apostle declares, a corruptible
crown, a crown of this life, it’s money, it’s power, it’s pleasures,
it’s way. Others are seeking the incorruptible crown of
eternal life, which God desires for everyone, as He has declared
ever so many times in His word. He sent His Son into
the world to save the world (John 3:16-17; 1 John 4:10-15).
He also sent Him to show us how to live, leaving us an example
to follow in His steps (1 Pet. 2:21-25), but He has
given us His word to lead and guide us (1 Tim. 3:16-17).
We are seeking that crown of life that fades not away, and
we realize we must keep on running in that race to the end of
life, when that incorruptible crown will be given to those who
faithfully run and finish. We know that God loves us and cares
about us as a loving Father cares about His children, and
that there is nothing that God will hold back from us who are
faithful to Him. No such promise is given to those who seek
the things of this world. Go, and tell others the wonderful
story!
Love you, David V. Fultz
