LIVING FOR JESUS
As Christians we have a two-fold responsibility to “keep
the faith”, and to preach or teach the gospel to others,
so that everyone may know the truth that Jesus came
to this earth to reveal. The devil is constantly at work to
keep us from doing this, but this should be no surprise
to us, as Satan has been opposed to us and to truth
from the beginning (Gen. 3:1-15), and God never promised
anyone that he or she would not have opposition,
nor that Satan would not lead him into temptation and
sin (Gen. 3:16-24; Rom. 3:24). Jesus Christ, God’s Son
was the only person Who came to earth and lived to an
accountable age and overcame all sin (Rom. 3:23).
Jesus not only overcame all the powers of Satan, but
He died to take away all our sins (Matt. 4:1-11: John
3:16-17). The one thing that Jesus requires is that we
be faithful unto Him. He loves us and wants us all to be
saved, but to do so we must stay with Christ and those
redeemed by His blood (1 John 2:1-17). We must continue
to run in the race and be faithful as did the apostle
Paul (1 Cor. 9:24-27). We must put on the whole armour
of God and fight in the battle to the end of life (Eph.
6:10-20). There are many glorious victories to be won.
For example, the victory over self, as we give ourselves
to Christ, to be His servants and not our own (Rom.
12:1, 2). Also the victory over our enemies, as we allow
the Lord to be our master, rather than self as we overcome
evil with good (Rom. 12:17-21).
Are we willing to stand for and with the truth whatever
may arise? (Jn. 14:1-6) Many have given their lives for
the Lord and His work (Heb. 11:32-40). Should we not
give ourselves by living our lives in His service until He
takes us home to be with Him? (Heb. 9:26-27)
