WAIT ON THE LORD (A LESSON ON PATIENCE)
The Psalmist David declared “I had fainted, unless I had
believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the
living. Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall
strengthen thine heart; wait, I say, on the Lord” (Psa 27:13:14).
Today we are all so impatient! We want everything right now!
Instant coffee, instant tea, instant meals, delivered now, or
cooked instantly in a microwave oven, etc. And from God we
want instant answers to our prayers, and if we don’t get them,
we conclude that He is not answering our prayers.
But David gives us a lesson that he had learned, and that
was to “wait on the Lord.” God will never forget nor forsake
us. “When my father and my mother forsake me, then the
Lord will take me up.” (v. 10)
God knows what is best for us and will do it, when it is best
for us. We need to learn patience as James tells us, “If any
man lack wisdom, let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For
he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the
wind and tossed. For let not that man think he shall receive
any thing of the Lord.” (James 1:6-7).
What a wonderful realization that God will always do that
which is right and good for us, if we will but do His will. But
remember, do not put off doing His will. Read (James 4:10-
17)
Love you, David V. Fultz
