LONGING FOR JESUS
Each of us reaches a point in life when we have a
longing for someone to help us through a difficult
situation. Even in our happiest moments, we realize
that we are not complete or fulfilled. This is because
God created man to be a worshipful being, and He
sent His Son into the world to fulfill this need of man.
Jesus said, “Come unto me all ye that labor and are
heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matt. 11:28).
Many people do not know where to find rest from
their burdens, so they turn to alcohol, or various other
drugs, but find that these only add to their problems
rather than take them away. Others turn to idolatry,
fornication, homosexuality and many other sins that
are listed in Romans 1:22-32, all of which add to
their burdens. Gal. 5:22-23 tells us what can be found
in Christ. That is the ultimate of “...Love, joy, peace,
longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness,
temperance; against which there is no law.”
As the apostle Peter tells us, “Humble yourselves
under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt
you in due time: casting all your care upon Him, for
He careth for you” (1 Pet. 5-7). No sin is too great,
even to the crucifying of Christ that God cannot forgive
that sin. God forgave the Jews who killed His
Son, when they repented and obeyed Him on the
day of Pentecost (Acts 2:36-42). In Christ we can
“Rejoice evermore”, even now and throughout all
eternity (1 Thess. 5:16-22).
