THE POWER OF CHRIST

Jesus Himself tells us in Matt. 28: 18, “All power is given to me in heaven and on earth.” and in Phil. 4:13, the apostle Paul declares, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Christ can and will provide the power or strength to overcome every evil temptation that besets us (1 Cor.10:13), as with any good thing that we attempt to do that seems at first to us overwhelming, He has promised to provide the power and strength to complete it and care for us in the doing of it (2 Cor. 12:9- 10). As He gave commandment to the twelve apostles, telling them to...”Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15), and promised that He would be with them “even to the end of the world” (Matt. 28:20), He promises us that regardless of how great the task may seem, He can and will provide for us the way to do it.

Every Christian has this same promise of the Lord being with him as he becomes a light-bearer of the cross of Jesus (Matt. 5:1-16 and Mark 8:34-38). Our whole purpose in this life on earth is to live so that we may gain the home in heaven, for Jesus said, “For what shall a man be profited, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matt. 16:26) Through Jesus we have the power to overcome Satan (Eph. 6:10-19). God shows us the way through His word (Heb. 4:12-16).
