A LIGHT IN THE WORLD
In the beginning, God said, “Let there be light and
there was light, and God saw the light, that it was
good; and God divided the light from the darkness”
(Gen. 1:3-4).
Have you been to the Carlsbad Caverns
or some other cave where the lights were turned
off and you stood in almost complete darkness? It is
an eerie experience! So it is with spiritual light and
darkness. God sent His Son, Jesus Christ to bring
light into a world that has been darkened by sin. “For
all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”,
we learn from Rom. 3:23. Christ tells us, “I am come,
a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on
me should not abide in darkness. And if any man
hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not; for
I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my word,
has one that judgeth him. The word that I have spoken,
the same shall judge him in the last day” (John
12:46 and 48). But if we...”walk in the light as He is
in the light, we have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all
sin” (1 John 1:7). When we walk in that light, we
become lights in a sin-darkened world. Won’t you
come to Christ today, and become a light in the world
who brings glory to God? (Matt. 5:14-16)
