CONVERTING ONE SOUL
“My brethren, if any among you err from the truth,
and one convert him; let him know, that he who
converteth a sinner from the error of his way shall
save a soul from death, and shall cover a multitude
of sins” (James 5:19-20).
Sin is a terrible thing in the
eyes of our Lord. So terrible that Jesus gave His life
upon the cross that we might be redeemed from our
sins. As the apostle John wrote, “But for the fearful,
and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers,
and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and
all liars, their part shall be in the lake that burneth
with fire and brimstone; which is the second death”
(Rev. 21:8). When a person becomes a Christian,
he obeys “...from the heart that form of teaching
whereunto ye were delivered; and being made free
from sin, ye became servants of rightousness” (Rom.
6:17-18). When a brother in Christ sins or turns back
into his old way of life again, whether knowingly or
unknowingly, he needs for someone to talk to him
and bring him back to God. Saving one soul is worth
more than all the gold in the world. Prayerfully and
longingly seek after that soul and bring him or her
back to God, as a shepherd seeks that lost sheep to
bring it back to the fold. It will be reward enough to
see that soul in heaven with you and to know you
saved “a soul from death and shall cover a multitude
of sins.” Sinner, won’t you come back home to
God today?
Love you, David V. Fultz
