LISTENING
Sometimes talking is easier than listening. But, in James 1:19, we are told to be “swift to hear, slow to speak.” This is good advice. There is a price to pay when one talks too much and does not listen enough. Someone has suggested that perhaps that is why God made us with two ears and one mouth! We should listen twice as much as we speak!

A SUPER TRIBUTE AT THE SUPER BOWL
The Super Bowl tribute I am referring to is not the halftime performance of Prince. I am referring to Coach Tony Dungy’s expressed gratitude to God! It is wonderful for such a public figure to publicly acknowledge our heavenly Father’s help in the processes of life and then to thank Him for it. But, such acknowledgements are typical for Coach Dungy.

A LOOK AT NATURAL CHURCH DEVELOPMENT
Christian Schwarz’ book, Natural Church Development: A Guide to Eight Essential Qualities of Healthy Churches, shares a research project that involved 1000 churches in 32 countries on 6 continents. They sought the answer to the question “What church growth principles are true, regardless of culture and theological persuasion?” Their analysis of 4.2 million responses revealed 8 quality characteristics for churches that demonstrated both “high quality” and quantitative growth.
