Rise and Shine

Recently, we have been blessed to have some new additions to our family here at Parkway. Dasmine Riggins’ baptism was a wonderful surprise for us to be a part of. I’m really proud of Tim for studying with him (and Nikque) and then baptizing him. Spiritual rebirth is necessary in order to become part of God’s kingdom as Jesus said in John 3:3: Jesus answered and said unto him, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Baptism is essential to being born again as Jesus added a couple of verses later in John 3:5: “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” A man may be young or old when he is baptized, but, regardless of his age, he becomes a newborn babe when he submits to that event. The apostle Peter tells us what they should do next in 1 Peter 2:2: “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.” So, let’s all encourage him to grow in the word daily.

Where Everybody Knows Your Name

The old “Cheers” theme song mentions that people “wanna go where everybody knows your name.” Sunday Morning and Wednesday Evening Bible class is definitely that place, that is if you attend. Connecting with the Word of God and His people in Bible Class can be a burst of encouragement to help propel you along your week. Just 45 minutes on Sunday morning and 45 minutes on Wednesday evening can make such a difference in how you are prepared to make it through life.
